We seek a confident, enthusiastic individual with a flexible attitude to work, as well as being a good team player with self-discipline for deadlines. A passion for engineering together with a willingness to learn is essential.
A minimum 5 GCSE’s at grade C (Level 4) or above is required including Maths, English and STEM subjects.
As an apprentice Machinist within Williams Racing, you will be taught traditional trade skills and techniques as well as up to date manufacturing machine processes. You will be exposed to both Production and Prototype Manufacturing environments where you will learn how to manufacture various parts for the full size F1 car,60 % scale model as well as associated jigs and fixtures for our Composite Manufacturing Department. You will gain a knowledge of how to work with a variety of ferrous and nonferrous materials as well as different polymers and composite materials.
During this 4 – year apprenticeship you will embark on a dedicated engineering path which incorporates attending OAS college in Culham where you will be enrolled onto a 4-year level 3 Eng./tech course. You can find out more information about OAS at: https://www.oas.ukaea.uk/.
Year 1 You will attend Williams Racing at certain times throughout the year, including college holiday periods. When not on block release you will attend OAS college.
Year 2 You will enter the Williams Racing Training Programme full time with block release to attend college. You’ll learn a wide range of machining principles and techniques whilst been set projects and phase tests in line with your NVQ requirements which will be assessed at regular intervals.
Year 3 You will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where you will gain hands on experience in the manufacturing F1 car components alongside continuing with your studies.
Year 4 You will work in the prototype machine shop learning offline 5 axis CAM programming whilst manufacturing various components for the business and completing all your studies.

CNC Milling and Turning
CAD Design /Drafting
Offline CAM programming
Interpret Engineering Drawings
HSE, COSHH and Risk assessments along with other relevant in-house training.
