Heather is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. An engineer for over 26 years, Heather was inspired to become an engineer following her childhood holidays spent in the engineering factory of a neighbour.
Her career path started as a technician trainee with British Railways, where she completed an Ordinary and Higher National Certificate before completing her engineering degree through Sheffield Hallam University.
Her experience includes 20 years in the rail industry, where she held a variety of technical management roles across the UK in client and consultant roles focusing on mainline and metro this included the introduction of Eurostar, modernisation of London Underground and multi-discipline line upgrades.
Since 2012 Heather has been working in the energy sector. She and her family relocated to Houston, Texas for two years, where she managed the HSE&R team for Atkins Oil & Gas America’s business. Her work also involved business and strategic development in the oil and gas conventional and unconventional markets. Heather is currently delivering business improvement around Health & Safety in the UK & Europe for a 1,200-person division.
Heather joined the MTC Training Board in 2019. She is also a Non-Executive Director on the MTC Board.
