We offer training towards the Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard, a qualification designed by engineering employers.
ApplyThis newly-developed ‘standards-based’ apprenticeship has been designed with employers, for use with new recruits (or existing staff) who wish to gain the technical and practical knowledge required to work within the engineering sector. You will learn the essential skills to design new products and work in development teams using cutting-edge technology in CAD programming, 3D printing, machine manufacturing, air logic systems, PLC and robotic systems – all in a safe and supportive environment at the Oxfordshire Advanced Skills centre.
This qualification is an Advanced Apprenticeship or ‘Level 3’ apprenticeship. It can provide you with progression routes onto higher level engineering qualifications.
ApplyPossession of 5 GCSE grades A*- C or grades 4 – 9 in subjects including Maths, Science and English.

Level 3 Diploma in ‘Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering – Product Design and Development Technician (Development Competence)’
OR
Level 3 Diploma in ‘Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering – Mechatronics Maintenance Technician (Development Competence)’
Successful completion of an ‘End Point Assessment’, leading to professional recognition by a relevant Engineering Institution
At the end of the apprenticeship you will be in a position to apply for Engineering Technician status.
ApplyThe course takes four years to complete over the following stages:
Year 1
Level 2 Practical Skills development, with a practical gateway assessment to year two.
Year 2-4
An academic diploma assessed by tests and assignments.
Year 2-4
NVQ assessment of work-based development.
In the final stage, there will be an ‘end point assessment’ conducted through an interview by an external professional organisation.
