CNC Machinist Apprentice

Training location Oxfordshire Advanced Skills, Culham Campus, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 3DB
Working week 40 hours
Wage £7 per hour
Expected duration 36 months

Responsibilities:

  • Setting and operating CNC machining centres and lathes.
  • Learning to use CAD/CAM software
  • Producing small to medium batch components, plus prototypes.
  • Working collaboratively as a team to learn existing manufacture processes and quality control.
  • Working with a variety of materials from plastics, aluminium and stainless steels.
  • Learn CNC programming on various control systems, basic understanding of G-code.
  • Learn the principles of machining to produce components to tight tolerances, from engineering drawings and models.
  • Maintaining production records to comply with ISO 9001:2015 and company procedure.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as under own initiative.

Please note: the successful candidate would be working in a workshop environment, working with heavy machinery, oils and a vast range of different materials. You would need to provide maintenance to machinery, cleaning out machines and will be on your feet for the vast majority of the day.

  • IT skills and experience with CAD/CAM software is an advantage

MTC Training eligibility: 5 GCSE's grades 9-4 / A*- C (or equivalent) including Maths and English Language or English Literature
