What will you learn?

Our Level 4 Apprenticeships provide you with extensive knowledge and the specialist skills required to fulfil roles within engineering with a higher level of responsibility.

Throughout the 48 month apprenticeship, you will learn from industry experts at our world-class, state-of-the-art facilities and develop your problem solving as well as the necessary theoretical and practical skills that are required to excel within the automation industry.

Course Content

The course comprises of 5 compulsory units and 3 optional units.

Compulsory units

  • Engineering Maths
  • Engineering Science
  • Engineering Design
  • Managing a Professional Engineering Project
  • Electrical and Electronic Principles

Possible optional units

  • Electrical Systems and Fault Finding
  • Industrial Robots
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

What you’ll need - course requirements

To be eligible for our Level 4 Automation & Controls Apprenticeship, you will need to demonstrate a passion for manufacturing and engineering as well as meeting our academic requirements.

Apprentices without level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and Maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3. 

Desirable Prerequisite – Level 3 Engineering Qualification or relevant engineering experience educated to A standard level (Maths/Physics)

In addition to these English and Maths requirements, you will need to attend an interview, undertake a further maths assessment and visit our assessment centre.
