WELLBEING & SUPPORT

WELLBEING AND PASTORAL MENTORS

Our Wellbeing and Pastoral Mentors are a friendly face to ensure our apprentices feel comfortable and can discuss any issues or challenges they're experiencing. By supporting the wellbeing of our learners, we aim to create a caring and inclusive community where our students can thrive, and which supports them to achieve their full potential.

The OAS team also includes Mental Health First Aiders who can offer initial support by listening, reassuring and responding, until professional help is received.

If you would like to find out more about the additional support we offer in-centre, please contact us and we will put you in touch with our Wellbeing & Pastoral Mentor Lead.

INCLUSIVE LEARNING COORDINATOR

We have an inclusive learning coordinator in-centre, who can provide additional learning needs support for our learners or help to arrange adaptations that may need to be made in the classroom.

They will work with you on a one-to-one basis, developing a personalised support plan to ensure your additional learning needs are identified and supported, such as extra support with Maths or English, or dyslexia support.

ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY

We provide a range of assisted technology devices to make our learning environment more accessible. These include tools such as text-to-speech pens, dictaphones, polaroid/digital cameras, noise reduction earplugs, headphones and ergonomic mice, as well as pencil grips, fidget toys and resistance bands.

We have added a screen reader to our website to ensure that everyone can access and engage with our content easily. Recite Me is an advanced accessibility toolbar that allows every visitor to tailor their browsing experience to suit their specific needs, promoting independence and equal access to information. See the link below to find out more about the accessibility toolbar and try it for yourself.

DIGITAL WELLBEING TOOLKIT

With assistance from expert consultants from the fields of mental health, neurodiversity, physical accessibility, and LGBTQ+, and with the active help of many trainers and apprentices, we have designed a digital wellbeing toolkit which is available to all our learners, to support them on their apprenticeship journey and enhance their experience with us.

The digital toolkit provides our apprentices and trainers with remotely accessible practical information, advice and guidance on various aspects of wellbeing support, mental health, neurodiversity, disabilities and LGBTQ+ topics.
